About Me
My name is Cheri Leiphart and I have been teaching art in the Wausaukee School District for the past 10 years. I haven't always been an art teacher. My past professions include waitress, Kirby vacuum salesperson, administrative assistant (secretary) and a General Motors Chevrolet Dealer. That last one I'm pretty proud of, as there are not very many women automobile franchise dealers in the country. I went back to college late in life, I was in my forties. This goes to show that you're never too old to learn something new. I received my Bachelors Degree in art education from the University of WI-Green Bay. I did my student teaching here at Wausaukee and liked it so much that when they offered me the job, I jumped at the chance. It's been thirteen years of adventures, experiments, challenges and fun filled learning ever since.
I've been married for 38 years to the same wonderful man, who sometimes presents as many challenges as teaching! We have three great adult children who are all living their own lives, but continue to "check up" on us to make sure we're behaving! I'm well aware of how fortunate I am and count my blessings every day.
When I'm not teaching I love to ride my horses, a big old draft cross named Russell and a buckskin quarter horse named Yankee. I also love camping, reading, gardening and, when time allows, painting. In fact, in order to make time for my passion, I take regular painting classes. If you'd like to see some of my work, check out the link at the bottom of this screen.
I look forward to meeting with my students and their parents and getting to more about each of you. My art room has an open door policy. Stop in any time, there's always an apron waiting for you!
